According to eThekwini Municipality, its bulk water supplier, uMngeni-uThukela Water, will isolate the South Coast Pipeline from 08:00 to 18:00 to carry out essential repair work. The municipality said reservoirs will be filled on the night of June 22 to help ensure water availability during peak demand periods before the shutdown.
While the repair work is expected to be completed by 18:00 on June 23, the municipality warned that full recovery of the water supply system could take up to two days after the shutdown. Residents are urged to use water sparingly during this period.
