Suspect raids yield positive results in Amanzimtoti

The police work hand-in-hand with the community policing forums and sub-forums, security companies, armed response units and neighbourhood watch groups, looking at a proactive approach in keeping the area safe.

AMANZIMTOTI detectives worked tirelessly during the past month, conducting several suspect raids ensuring perpetrators are arrested and put behind bars.

Amanzimtoti police station’s communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy, said they arrested 16 suspects for various contact and property related crimes such as attempted murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (assault GBH), domestic violence, housebreaking and theft, general theft, business robbery and malicious damage to property.

“The arrested suspects are still attending court and the detectives are confident they will be brought to book. Members in our community are encouraged to assist the detectives with information that can lead to the successful apprehension and conviction of suspects. Any information received will be regarded as privileged and confidential,” said Van der Spuy.

Amanzimtoti police station urges the community to play an active role in reporting crime and any suspicious behaviour to the police. Van der Spuy said, “Community who may have information that can assist in solving crimes are requested to contact the Amanzimtoti police station on 031 913 1308/10, Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or utilise the MYSAPS mobile application.”
