‘Stock thief’ dies after shootout near Winklespruit
The incident comes days after two men were arrested in Isipingo for stealing livestock.
LUCK ran out for a group of men who are suspected of being livestock thieves after they were involved in a shooting with security officers who were hot on their heels on the N2 near Winklespruit earlier today, December 15.

The incident was confirmed by Magma Security and Investigations’ CEO and head of investigations, Shaheen Suleiman.
He said the suspects were travelling in a bakkie that was full of meat of cattle that had allegedly been stolen in the area and slaughtered.
“As they were driving at high speed on the N2 south, the security officers caught up with them and as they approached their car, the suspects started shooting and the officers shot back,” said Shane Mdlalose who witnessed the incident.
He said One of the suspects was shot dead and the others managed to escape.
Suleiman said the officers were not injured.
The incident comes three days after two men were arrested in Isipingo after two live goats were found in the boot of their car. The goats were suspected to have been stolen in Umkomaas.
