Raffle raises funds for Jona Vaughan Home
Patrons guessed how many jelly beans were in a jar, in hopes of winning a hamper, while raising funds for a good cause.
IN an effort to support local community needs, two Amanzimtoti businesses hosted a raffle to raise funds for Jona Vaughan Home for the Handicapped.
Anna Clayton, owner of Splash Waterworld, and her daughter, Cindy Theunissen, owner of The Thirsty Whale, asked patrons to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar in order to win a hamper and help out for a good cause. The winner was Joann Huyser.

“I’ve always loved giving back and helping the community and local non-profit organisations. In addition to the R13 417 raised, I made the residents a hearty soup as well as some macaroni,” said Anna.
She thanked the staff, those who donated towards the cause and those who sponsored prizes for the hamper.
Sharnay Wilhelm of the Jona Vaughan parent association said this donation greatly assists about 80 residents, aged six to 79.
“We are so appreciative of their efforts. The money will help tremendously with food and medical care. We are reliant on donations and the community, and at the moment, times are tough so we have seen a decline in the donations,” she said.
