The child’s mother, Romè Momberg, said she wants to raise awareness about what other parents should look out for.

At the beginning of the week, Romè said while at work she was called by her daughter’s daycare centre, saying she was running a high fever.

“On Monday (February 17) she went to daycare and the teacher called me after nap time and told me she was feverish. I went there straight away and she had a fever of 39 (degrees Celsius) which is not abnormal for children that age and we didn’t think that much of it. On Tuesday she was still not well and I took her to the doctor,” said Romè.

The symptoms persisted the next day and Romè took her daughter to a paediatrician who confirmed the diagnosis.
