Puppy yoga – a match made in heaven
1st Umbogintwini Scouts partnered with Safe for the most adorable session of puppy yoga, to give the animals the love they need.
UMBOGINTWINI scouts and cubs from 1st Umbogintwini and 58th Air Scouts lent a helping ‘paw’ to Safe (Saving animals through fostering and education) alongside hosts Secret Sunrise, to organise the cutest puppy yoga session on February 16 at Sugar Rush Park in Ballito.

The KZN Doghouse and the Kintsugi Project came on board to assist. Organised chaos ensued as an adorable army of puppies were released among around 100 yoga participants, scampering, bouncing and pouncing on their targets.

Troop scouter, Adele Wilson, said the yoga mats were absolutely riddled with treats.
“Puppy yoga has a two-fold purpose. It allows the rescued puppies to receive human touch, love and affection and the participants get to experience yoga like never before,” said Clair Augustyn, founder of Safe.
The scouts ensured that the pups remained in the designated yoga area by showering them with tasty treats.
“It is important for our scouts to get involved in events like this. Not only does it expose them to community service, which is one of the six themes in a scout’s journey, it also gives life to our sixth scout law, ‘A Scout is a friend to all animals’,” said Wilson.
If you want to donate cat / dog food, blankets, toys, bowls or treats, you can drop these off at the upcoming 1st Umbogintwini Scouts market day at The Church of the Good Shepherd at 615 Kingsway Road on March 21 between 10:30 and 15:30.
