On May 19, Eureka Olivier, director of Operation Bobbi Bear, said it had been six days without electricity and five days without water. She said the 14 resident children could not bathe or wash their school clothes. Security is also compromised because the electric security fence does not work.
“The office has come to a complete standstill, there is no electricity for the computer, printer, Wi-Fi, telephones, and all food has gone rotten in the fridges and freezers. Children and staff are now beyond irritable, and I see one little human praying in a corner asking God to please just send some electricity, he is scared in the dark,” said Olivier.
Despite making numerous calls, she said the problem had not been resolved at the time of publishing. For more information on how to assist Operation Bobbi Bear, contact Olivier on 072 443 2525.
