Damaging winds wreak havoc on the South Coast

The public are advised to remain indoors as adverse weather hits various parts of the province.

WARNINGS of adverse weather on the South Coast and the greater eThekwini have been issued after strong winds caused damage in various areas today (June 10).

Fallen electricity poles, uprooted trees, and damaged houses were reported in Warner Beach, KwaMakhutha, Folweni, and Amanzimtoti. Ward 97 councillor André Beetge issued a statement advising people to stay indoors.

“Please stay off the streets as there are already reports of trees down along Arbour Road and R603 between Winklespruit and Illovo Beach. Roofs have blown off houses in neighbouring Kingsburgh West and the township area,” said Beetge.
