Pink Goddesses united in support of cancer [Video]

Pink Goddesses partnered with Estée Lauder, South Africa and R35 000 was raised for the oncology unit at Addington Hospital.

A SEA of pink in every shade imaginable greeted guests as they entered Amanzimtoti resident Rennie Naidoo’s private and self-funded 12th annual Pink Goddess event recently.
This year’s gathering raised R35 000 towards the refurbishment of the oncology unit at Addington Hospital. Naidoo also partnered with Estée Lauder South Africa to further support the cause.

Naidoo said she hosts the event each year in memory of her father, who died from a brain tumour, and her grandmother, who lost her battle with breast cancer.

“We are humbled that an international company chose to partner with us on a local fundraising initiative. We have confidence in the good that we do locally and the impact we have on the cancer cause. This is especially special for me since my late grandmother had her chemo and radiation treatment for breast cancer at Addington Hospital,” she said.

Prishantha Pillay, regional manager of Estée Lauder South Africa, said the Estée Lauder Breast Cancer Foundation campaign is one of the company’s largest global initiatives.
“It was close and very dear to Estée Lauder, as her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Lauder, was diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Pillay.

“We contribute to the South African Breast Cancer Association, and it’s a privilege to stand alongside Rennie as we raise funds and bring this cause closer to home. We think of the women who take taxis to hospitals, sit in uncomfortable chairs and wait the entire day to receive treatment. We just want to bring a little more comfort to them.”

Guests were treated to a scrumptious lunch and were invited to write messages of love and remembrance to those currently fighting cancer or to honour those who have lost their battle with the disease.
