Last call to get in on the Highland Gathering action

With mere hours remaining until the much-anticipated Highland Gathering returns to Amanzimtoti, here is an overview of what to expect.

THE faint hum of the Highland Gathering’s pipe bands will soon transform into a chorus of Scottish symphonies as the big day fast approaches.

The stage is set. The bands are hard at work practising their performances, the stalls are ready and Hutchison Park, Amanzimtoti, where the event will take place on May 2, is soon to become the South Coast’s gateway into the Scottish Highland of old.

Overview of the fields

The highlight of the Highland Gathering will be on the rugby field, where the pipe bands competition area will be set up. There, visitors will also get to witness the massed bands performance at 17:00. It will also include the piper’s bar and military re-enactors.

On the soccer field, the tea garden will be set up in addition to the food court and many of the food stalls. The main stage and spectators tent will also be set up on the field, in addition to many artisanal stalls and the Highland’s tavern beer tent.

Children will find the most joy on the cricket field, where most children and family-friendly activities during the event will take place, including a reptile display and horse riding experiences.
