Amanzimtoti CPF urges calm amid immigration tensions

The Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum has called on all residents to remain calm, and law-abiding, urging against the spreading of rumours.

THE Amanzimtoti Community Policing Forum (ACPF) has said that it is aware of the impending deadline of June 30 that was announced by anti-illegal immigrant groups as the date by which no undocumented foreign national should still be in the country.

On the South Coast, an anti-illegal immigrant march is planned in Umgababa on June 23. It is unclear, however, whether Amanzimtoti will be directly impacted, but ACPF said contingency plans are in place to ensure the safety of residents and businesses during this period.

“At this stage, the ACPF is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with the relevant authorities, sub-forums and neighbourhood watch groups throughout sectors 1, 2, and 3,” read the statement.

The ACPF called on all residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, urging against the spreading of unverified information or rumours.

For more information, community members can contact the Amanzimtoti police station on 082 624 5250 or 079 790 0392. They can also reach out to their CPF sub-forum chairperson or neighbourhood watch chairperson, whose contacts are available on the ACPF Facebook page (@TotiCPF).
