Celebrated under the theme #BeatPlasticPollution, this year’s World Environment Month is a global call to action, urging governments, cities, organisations, and industries to invest in and implement sustainable solutions to end plastic pollution.

In a statement, eThekwini said it was a meaningful day of environmental education and action.
“The event, held on the school premises, focused on promoting sustainable practices and environmental awareness among learners. At the heart of the day’s activities was the planting of a vegetable garden, an initiative that not only highlights the importance of food security, but also teaches learners the value of nurturing the earth,” read the statement.

CSW facilitated a fun and educational programme that included waste separation demonstrations, the importance of recycling, and how proper waste disposal contributes to a cleaner and healthier city.

Miss Earth South Africa delegate, Ngcobo, said the event was a success. “I’m proud to have been part of it. It was an honour to celebrate youth empowerment through environmental action. Let’s keep working towards a greener future for all,” she said.
