EDITOR – With reference to your front page article on lack of confidence in Toti police, I would like to respond to the article, as I feel if only one side of the article is published, it would not acknowledge the staff doing a good job at Toti SAPS.
I have over the past two months phoned Toti SAPS – once for a suspicious vehicle on our forecourt, once for a break in at the factories next door to our station and recently my security guard phoned for their assistance when a guard across the road was tied up and a break-in was in progress.
In all instances the police responded in under 10 minutes to our call for assistance and they were of great assistance to us.
With the suspicious vehicle on our forecourt, they remained on our premises for 20 minutes and even came back later on in the evening to check everything was in order and whether the vehicle came back. With the guard who had been tied up, two police vans were on the scene in under five minute.
We would like to thank them for the prompt response to our calls for assistance, on behalf of the staff and management of Caltex Southgate Service Station.
