career.
“I’m excited about the better training facilities in Pretoria,” said Tiffany. She will be coached by Fouche van Tonder and team up with her rowing partner Esti van Tonder.
Tiffany (26), who both taught and schooled at Toti High, will commence training with other South African international canoeists in Port Edward from 9 to 23 February. She will also take part in SA trials in April.
The paddler has the World Cup in Hungary and Czech Republic in her sights in May. “I hope to get into the B finals,” said Tiffany.
Tiffany competed in the 2012 Olympic in the women’s K1 200m at Dorsey Lake, where she progressed to the semi-finals. Tiffany has set her sights on the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. There she hopes to compete in the 200m and 500m as well as reach the final.
Along with a move to Pretoria, Tiffany is also making a career change from teaching to studying safety management. “Training full time is tough, so studying will keep my mind active while I train,” said Tiffany.
