Krugers take the reins at Winkle BC

The AGM held on Saturday, 30 August was well attended.

DESPITE the windy conditions, members of Winklespruit Bowling Club continued playing their club competitions.

On Wednesday, 27 August Estelle van der Merwe, Gladys Yelland and Di Kruger won the women’s nominated trips against Annelie Pienaar, Trish Farmer and Norma Raath.

On Thursday, 28 August the men’s 2-4-2 overall winners were Dries Snyman and Kokkie de Kock. The 100 board winner was Steve Evenwell. The weekly attendance draw was won by Sue Welsh who unfortunately did not attend the afternoon’s bowls. The monthly Warner Beach Garage petrol draw and monthly meat draw were won by Bill Rawlinson and Elaine Critchlow respectively.

On Sunday, 31 August the wannabe turkey competition was played and the overall winners were Paul and Jenette Els and Martin and Elmarie Young. Runners up were Mike Berry, Dora Kruger, Aubrey Toy and Bey vd Westhuizen. The wannabe turkey hamper was won by Doug Wolton.

The AGM held on Saturday, 30 August was well attended. The outgoing president, Yvonne Appleby and vice-president, Mac Appleby were thanked by all. Much appreciation was shared for their dedication and continuous efforts to sustain a healthy bowling environment. The outgoing committee members were thanked for their hard work and dedication during their term in office. The newly elected president, Mike Kruger and vice-president, Di Kruger and all newly elected committee members were wished well for the year in office and everyone offered their support and assistance.

August birthday wishes are sent to Gladys Yelland and Paul Els on 29 August and Neville Cook on 31 August. The club wishes all ill members a speedy recovery. Good bowling to all and remember to check your bias before delivery.
