As the Winklespruit green was closed, their men’s 2-4-2 was played at ABC this month, so thanks go to the committee and green keeper for the use of ABC’s facilities. The winners were Peter Labuschagne and Dave Kemp, with runners-up Gerald Chalder-Royle and Denny Denysschen. Second session prize went to Brad Cox and Harry van Vuuren.
Thanks go to Allan and Denise Hawkins for arranging the generous prizes and free drinks for the Victory Kwik Spar nominated inter club mixed 2-4-2. Everyone enjoyed a fabulous afternoon. The Continental bowls prize went to Shayne Tocher and Talla Stephens-Viviers. First session was won by Duncan and Yvonne Wright, and second session by Jeff and Margaret van Belkum. Runners-up were Ian and Marion Crouch, and overall winners were Julie and Sean Sutherland.
Unfortunately the weather did not play along for potjie day, and only a few die-hards stayed and had a game in the afternoon.
However, the potjie cooking competition produced delicious results which were savoured with relish. The judges, Bruno and Tracey had a very hard time deciding on the winners from among the 12 entrants, but eventually Archie and Elsie Walker took the honours. Second place went to Mickey Roche, and third to Ian McDonald and ‘chef’ Ralph Dolan. Ian Mills and Mike Pitchers came in fourth, with Alec Stirzaker and Miles Cartwright fifth. Leonie Mills won the raffle and Nita Meumann the 100 board. Thanks to Elsie and Archie Walker for the main sponsorship and the organisation, and Doug Joubert for the music.
At TGIF Leonie Mills’ key was drawn but it didn’t fit the box, so the prize goes up to R1,800 next week. Nicky Stirzaker won the 100 board. The attendance prize was not won, so that goes up to R300. The list for the New Year’s Eve party is up, so put your name down and enjoy great music and fun with friends.
Birthday greetings this week go to Lesley Stephens-Viviers and Adriane Robbins. Finally, to those members who are sick or in hospital, the club wishes them a fast return to health.
