Obstacle course hones children’s technical cycling skills

The club's very nimble 'hare' Wayne Sives patiently took the little girls around the trail, showing them the ropes.

A FUN afternoon was had by the Toti Cycle Club members’ children and club members on Sunday at the trail at Lords.

Ten children and their dads raced around the track in the humid conditions, trying out the various obstacles that were laid out to improve technical skills.

The club’s very nimble ‘hare’ Wayne Sives patiently took the little girls around the trail, showing them the ropes. He spotted an up-and-coming mountain bike champ in Sylka Bester, who attacked obstacles, hills and rocks with gusto. Go girl power. Thanks to the road captain, Shaun Heinz, for his wonderful carpentry skills which created a fun wooden ramp that was enjoyed by children and adults alike. Well done to Antoinette Bedingfield, the club’s newest adult mountain biker, who conquered the ramp and the sand pit on Sunday afternoon. Toti’s mountain bike captain extends huge thanks to all the guys who loyally gave up their afternoon to help her set up for the children to enjoy their ride. These are the kind of people who make a club great.
