Burgled pensioner must find new way to assist needy

She has been host to numerous beggars on a daily basis.

EDITOR – In response to the article headlined ‘Knifepoint burglary terror for Doonside pensioner‘ in your 20 March edition.

I read with great sadness that the Adelaide Road resident was held at knifepoint and robbed.

It is an unacceptable act that is condemned by us all. I do though hope that the said resident learns from this atrocious event. She has been host to numerous beggars on a daily basis.

Her neighbours and the authorities have begged her to find a new way of assisting the poor and needy. Each day beggars sit on the road outside her home, waiting for hours and watching the movements of everyone in the area and any attempt to move them by the authorities are highly defended by the same resident.

She has been warned that such an event will happen and yet she continues to put not just herself but all her neighbours at risk. Her charity for those in need is highly commended but please, rather through a charity that deals with such folk.
