ACC to get together for annual prizegiving
U13A finished first. This highly talented team finished tied first, which is a very good result but they could have won the league outright if it were not for some silly decisions and arguments that came about during the season.

AMANZIMTOTI Cricket Club (ACC) thanks all the coaches, managers, supporters, parents and players, who collectively made a long season possible.
All 10 ACC teams did reasonably well in their respective leagues.
One would have thought that with the drought in full flight during the season, there would have been a lot less games called off. Unfortunately the DDCU, which organises the fixtures for all teams except the first team, once again had a lot of games called off for reasons that were not always clear to clubs.
The organised coaching structure that has been set up for the junior teams is starting to pay dividends as their positions in the logs have improved dramatically. Dean and Phillipa Carson did a sterling job organising the entire junior structure, Phillipa prepared a completely new database which helped tremendously when extra players were required and more importantly, the DDCU could not fine the club this year for lack of player information that they always need.
The managers were all good in submitting their match reports to the DDCU. Their match reports were also given to Paul Russell who compiled all the newspaper reports for the Sun. It has been a long time since cricket news has appeared in the Sun consistently over the entire season.
Final log positions:
U11B finished seventh. This is a very good result considering that the bulk of this team were very young and will have one or two more seasons as U11.
U11A finished fourth. This highly talented team had the misfortune of having a lot of players unavailable for a number of games, mainly due to school commitments.
U13B finished ninth. Although they seldom managed to field a full team, they played with passion and won a lot of matches that lesser teams would have lost.
U13A finished first. This highly talented team finished tied first, which is a very good result but they could have won the league outright if not for some silly decisions and arguments that came about during the season. Well done to the boys.
U15 finished fifth. Thanks to Riaan Vosloo, these boys developed into a formidable team after a poor start to the season where there were never enough players.
Fifth team finished second. Well done to Marcel for once again organising and managing a good team.
Brian Vickery excelled with the bat, scoring a double century in one game and one more for good measure to finish with an average of 85.
Fourth team finished 11th. This team could not win a game when the season started. The more they lost, the harder they practised until they started to get results. Well done.
Third team finished fifth. Mark had a hard time fielding a team for most of the away games. Maybe the players are scared that they may get lost if they leave Toti, as most are older. With the quality of players in this team, they should do a lot better.
Second team finished second. This team started like a house on fire, destroying everything before them in the first half of the season. Then they let it slip on a couple of occasions where they played village cricket. Second position is a huge improvement from previous years but it could have been better.
First team finished second. They played against some well-paid, semi-professional teams in the Challenge League but like the second team, they too let it slip on occasions.
On Friday, 22 April ACC’s annual prize-giving will take place in the conference room at the central club, starting at 7pm. All players must attend. Friends and family are also invited to join the celebration.
