River raft race to raise money for local NGOs
Annual Umkomaas River Raft race this Saturday, 25 February
WATER enthusiasts will tackle the waters of the Umkomaas River with their choice of equipment for the annual River Raft race this Saturday, 25 February.
Hoodlums Motorcycle Club’s family fun day promises a good time for all, while the proceeds from the day will be shared between local charities.
Families and friends are invited to join in a day of fun and laughter, where koeksisters, proper South African milk tart and homemade health rusks will be on sale. All funds raised will be shared between local NGOs, Operation Bobbi Bear and Khanya Hospice. Church and youth groups, sport teams and companies are invited to enrol their members for a great team building exercise on the idyllic Umkomaas river. The event has been running for many years now, with participants required to build their own raft or bring a tube to show fellow competitors just how survival-savvy they are on the waters. Participants will launch into the river near to the Sappi Saiccor Mill at noon with the race or float down the river to the ski boat club where they finish.
Costs for entry is R500 per raft and R200 per tube. For more information contact Anton 082-467-5657 or Swannie 083-235-7258.
