Only one new member was elected into the committee.

THE Amanzimtoti Cycle Club held its annual general meeting on October 19 at its club premises in Hutchison Park to elect its 2023/2024 committee.

Save for one new appointment of the road manager, Barry Walker, who will be continuing as club chairman, the Amanzimtoti Cycle Club members decided to keep the same members who were elected last year.

“The same bunch of rowdy scallywags will be manning the ship for yet another adventurous year ahead. We suspect that bribery involving extra servings of the infamous club sandwiches might be at play, but who are we to judge?” quipped Walker.

He welcomed Mike Schutte, the new road captain, saying he hopes he is ready to navigate the challenges that come with planning the next epic road trip.

“Godspeed, Mike, and may the winds of camaraderie be forever in your favour,” said Walker, while also congratulating all other members.

The full committee:
Barry Walker – chairman
Jaco Van Zyl – vice-chairman
Allison Backman – secretary
Nicky Tischendorf – club membership
Karen Liebenberg – treasurer
Mike Schutte – road captain
MTB Captain – still open
