Social tennis continues to be a solid source of activity for members of the Amanzimtoti Tennis Club, who filled up the courts to play.

AMANZIMTOTI Tennis Club members turned up at the courts bright and early for social match-ups on March 5. The friendly competition quickly grew competitive as Carol-Ann Renwick and Grant Milosevich took on sprightly pair, Lorna Warrior and Jonathan B David, in a five-round two versus two duel.

Milosevich said games at the club are open and friendly, and allow for any skill level. He said, “Today’s match was quite tough. We had a pretty even match-up – despite coming across with the win, we broke a sweat, but we had a lot of refreshments and we’re looking forward to the next one.”

Secretary, Renwick, celebrated her 77th birthday with a fun morning of tennis. She started playing the sport when she was 35, and she was on and off with it due to work and travel. “It’s very social, and I enjoy it for keeping fit,” she said.

On behalf of the club, Renwick wished to thank tenured member, Gavin Groves, “All Toti Tennis Club members wish to thank him unconditionally for all his hard work on the clubhouse and grounds.”

Social tennis for club members is on Wednesday from 08:00 and Saturday from 14:00, and for social members on Sunday from 16:00. Visitors are always welcome to join on social days, and the courts may be hired at other times. To raise much-needed funds for the club, there will be a wine tasting event at the club on March 27 at 17:30 for 18:00, at a cost of R100 per person.
