An Amanzimtoti Cricket Club player stood out in the grand final of the Castle Cricket Bash despite his team coming up short.

THE final leg of the Castle Corner Bash 2025 shone brightly, and Amanzimtoti cricketer Luc Jacobs shone even brighter as the bowler of the final, held at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on December 6.

The tournament began in the Amanzimtoti Cricket oval in September, pitting six teams selected from a pool made up of Dolphins, KZN Cricket Union Club, schools and hubs players, to compete.

Muhammad Jooma of Dolphins Cricket said that the final, which saw ETA Shields take on Hollywoodbets Hotshots on their turf, was the first ever fixture played under the stadium’s brand new lights.

“It made for an unforgettable spectacle. A historic moment for our Dolphins Cricket Club Pipeline. A massive congratulations to the champions, the Hollywoodbets Hotshots, who claimed victory in a thrilling final,” said Jooma.

Despite coming up short in the final, Jacobs’ determined bowling spell of 2/40 kept the final full of intensity and his team in the running, landing him the award of “Bowler of the final”.

Yahya Godil, director of KH Sports, hands over an individual award to Luc Jacobs for his excellent bowling.

“I really enjoyed the final. It was intense, but I felt I bowled well and was honoured to be recognised for my performance. The team fought hard and it was a memorable match. The tournament overall was a great experience. I focused on giving the team strong starts with the ball and chipping in with runs whenever I could. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent the ETA Shields and proud of what we achieved together,” said Jacobs.
