Strong finish for Amanzimtoti runners

The Durban Mixed Trial League saw athletes compete in 4km and 8km races, bringing both competitive spirit and camaraderie to Glenwood streets.

AMANZIMTOTI runners delivered strong performances in the second leg of the Durban Mixed Trial League, hosted by Stella Athletic Club in Glenwood.

The popular inter-club series, held at various running clubs across Durban, saw athletes compete in 4km and 8km races, bringing both competitive spirit and camaraderie to the streets. Amanzimtoti athletes featured prominently across several categories, with solid times recorded in both the shorter and longer distances.

In the senior women’s 5km, Kristen Botha led the local contingent, finishing in 23:39. She was followed by Sarah Ferguson and Shelby Orton, who both crossed the line in 29:32. Gramble Orange posted a time of 27:57 in the grand masters 5km category.

In the senior men’s 8km race, Wade Botha clocked 34:32, ahead of James Orton (37:13) and Coenraad van den Bergh (38:27).
Warren Gibson recorded 36:00 in the veteran men’s 8km, while Jay Ramdeo finished in 37:15 in the masters men’s category.

The third leg of the Durban Mixed Trial League is scheduled for March 19 at Chiltern Athletic Club in Westville.
