Amanzimtoti squash players take on racketball league

Amanzimtoti squash players are competing in a months-long racketball league to test their mettle in the courts.

A TEAM of Amanzimtoti Squash Club members are competing in the exciting Squash 57 League every Monday evening at Westville Country Club and Crusaders Sports Club.

The club’s Charlotte Dougans explained that Squash 57, also known as racketball, is similar to traditional squash, however it uses a larger 57mm ball that bounces more and travels slower, making for longer rallies and an enjoyable game for players of all levels.

“The league consists of eight six-player teams ranked according to strength, with the number one player being the strongest in each team. Matches are played as best of three games. Even if a player wins the first two games, the third game is still played for valuable bonus points,” said Dougans.

The racketball league began in mid-April and will run until August or September, with each player playing a total of 14 games during the season.

“We are super proud of our Toti boys for taking part in the league and representing the club with passion and sportsmanship. We wish them all the best for the remainder of the season,” said Dougans.
