EIKENHOF Women’s Institute held its July meeting on July 12 during which one of the members gave a talk on the history of books.

Pat Leech, treasurer of the women’s institute, spoke about her interest in books and showed an old book, The History of the World, which has been in her family for many years. “This book will be coming with me to England shortly to be rebound and to receive a little TLC,” said Pat.

Ann Nicholls, judge of the competition, admired many of the members’ handicrafts, baking and marmalade making and gave them points for their efforts, which will be carried forward to Show Day, when she will be the judge again.

After the talk, tea and delicious eats were served. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 16, in the hall of St Andrew’s Church, on Burger Street, Suideroord.
