Woodlands WI members receive new competition booklets

Maureen asked everyone to join in the saying of the Mary Stewart Collect and to keep all absent members who are not well in thoughts and prayers.

MAUREEN Lavis, president of Woodlands Women’s Institute, opened the July meeting by welcoming all members and especially two new members, Louise Fagan and Barbara Endres.

New competition booklets were handed out and as the hall was needed for a local church’s school holiday programme, tea was served and the meeting closed early.

Competition results as follows:

Adult education: First Dawn Cowan, second May Scott.

Craft: First Dawn Cowan, second Martie Caldwell.

Handicraft: First May Scott, second Sandra Naidoo, third Hazel Demé and Jean Smith.

Floral: First Martie Caldwell, second Sandra Naidoo, third Heather Demé.

Best specimen: First Phyllis Parsonage, second Valerie Wagner, third Linda Gibbs.

Agri/horti: First Sheila Mathieson, second May Scott, third Dawn Cowan.

Best rose: First Phyllis Parsonage, second Hazel Demé, third Sandra Naidoo.

Best orchid: First Phyllis Parsonage, second Hazel Demé.

Merit: First May Scott, second Dawn Cowan, third Sandra Naidoo, Hazel Demé and Jessica Milledge.

Home products: First Dawn Cowan, second Jean Smith, third Linda Gibbs.

Maureen reminded members about the group meeting to be hosted by Stainbank WI on Tuesday, 5 August at Yellowwood Park Civic Centre and then closed the meeting with the saying of the women’s institute prayer.
