Mowat Park honours top matric pupils

The school achieved a 99% pass rate in the matric exams and 245 subject distinctions.

MOWAT Park High School honoured its top matric pupils of 2014 in a special assembly on Wednesday, 21 January.
The school achieved a 99% pass rate in the matric exams and 245 subject distinctions.

Mowat Park High School dux, Zimkhita Ntozakhe achieved 6 A symbols in geography, physics, mathematics, life sciences, Zulu and life orientation. “Trial exams were harder than finals and it prepared me well for finals,” said Ntozakhe. The 18-year-old will study medicine at UKZN. “I grew up in a rural area where a lot of people are not exposed to health education. I want to help people and impart my knowledge,” she said.

Matriculant, Buhle Zulu who achieved 5 As says extra hours will help in passing matric. “If you want to get extraordinary marks you need to take extra lessons,” she said.
School principal, Nkosinathi Tsaulwayo has been teaching at Mowat Park since 2010. “I can’t describe the feeling of achieveing a 99% pass rate. I’m really happy for my girls,” he said. In his assembly address Tsaulwayo spoke about delivering quality results. “Mowat Park is known as the best performing school. It’s about the contribution of each pupil. You must have a vision that will drive you,” he said. Tsaulwayo’s parting words for the class of 2014 were: “Go out there and shine. We want to meet you as doctors, teachers and lawyers, doing something for the country,” he said.

Ziphezinhle Kubheka, Buhle Zulu, Mandisa Mteshana, Silindile Sithole, Sinenhlanhla Cele and Thandokuhle Sithole all received 5 As symbols in their final exams.
