Science Club boys in medal haul at expo

Youngsters shine at science expo.

A MASS of medals made their way home with Grosvenor Boys High School’s science club after the Eskom FSS Science Expo.

For his research on how bacteria grows in conjunction with various music genres, Brenton Johnson was awarded a silver medal.

A second silver medal went to Tyrique Naicker for his research on fractals.

Bronze medals went to Dylan Buys, Keenan Bowes and Adin Rikisahadew for research on the effect of gaming on reaction time; the effect of dog drool on bacterial growth and an investigation into solar powered cars, respectively.

Other Grosvenor Science Club participants were Joshua Horsley, who investigated the growth of plants with different music; Leanor Panderes, who looked at the differing salt quantities on the boiling point of water; Ethan Byron, who researched the effect of freezing on various rocks and Steveland Carrol, who showed how the musculoskeletal system brings about movement in the hand.

Life sciences teacher, Nathasia Naidoo, said she was proud of the pupils she mentors and looked forward to seeing what they would produce in the future.
