MONTCLAIR SAPS responded to several reports of hijackings in the area on Friday, 28 April.
At about 6.20am two brand new unregistered vehicles were stolen while they were being delivered to their owners in Montclair.
The two delivery men were still inside the cars when two men approached each of them with firearms. “They were both ordered to move to the back seats of the car and the two armed men jumped in the vehicles,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Capt Dereck Vijiam.
The delivery men were dropped in Umbumbulu and were unharmed.
Hours later, at about 6.30pm another car was reported stolen on South Coast Road. A man was loading an imported vehicle onto a trailer when three unknown men approached him. One of them produced a firearm and threatened to shoot the man if he didn’t give him the car keys.

Without a fight, he handed the keys over to the armed man who then removed the car from the trailer. The three men jumped into the vehicle and drove off. No shots were fired.
“The victim of the hijacking was sent in for a polygraph test. He was offered trauma counselling but he refused,” added Capt Vijiam.
