Golf day to help launch Wentworth youngster’s UAE soccer tour dream
Ethan is excited to go to Dubai from 25 November to 2 December
GARDENIA Primary pupil and U9 star striker for Bayview Football Club, Ethan August has been given the inspirational opportunity to play in the New Juniors Worldwide Tours KZN under 9 soccer team, which will travel to Dubai to compete at the UAE winter classic 2018 in November.
The young soccer enthusiast has honed his soccer skills since the age of four-years-old when he joined Bayview FC. “Since then, I knew I loved the sport and I love playing striker. One day I would love to go pro and play for Man City,” said the smiling nine-year-old.
The hardworking young soccer player trains three times a week for two hours, and is committed enough to ensure this does not stop him from being an A student at school. “He is quite the math boffin and always does his best in school. I think soccer has taught him discipline and concentration, so it helped more than actually taking away his time,” said his aunt, Beverley August.
Ethan is excited to go to Dubai from 25 November to 2 December and prepares himself every day for the challenges he will face in the UAE. “I am most excited about meeting others like me who love playing soccer and also impressing the scouts that they say will be there watching us play,” said Ethan.

While it is a great opportunity for Ethan, a lot of fundraising is needed to ensure the Ethan and his team make it to Dubai. New Juniors Worldwide Tours, the non-profit organisation which works to host annual tours for boys and girls to improve their skills and experience, is hosting a fundraising golf day on Friday, 26 October at Mount Edgecombe Country Club.

The NPO appeals to the communities and companies or corporations to sponsor a hole, prizes, getaways or to play in the golf day fundraiser. Entry for a fourball costs R2,400.
“I’m asking all communities to support this cause as it will open so many doors, not just for my nephew but his teammates who all deserve this trip. This is a great opportunity for young South Africans to be exposed to this global level of football. The total tour cost for an individual player is roughly R25,000.
Regular fundraising events will be conducted to help Ethan and the team to realise their dreams,” said Beverley.
