Denuded Bluff entrance derided
A welcoming entrance has been turned into something totally unattractive
EDITOR – Letters have been published recently rightly deploring the removal of trees at the traffic light intersection of Bluff, Stableford, and Old Mission Roads and the lack of any moves towards restoring the area to any acceptable extent.
What still needs to be done is to demand an investigation into who authorised and carried out such an irresponsible and wantonly foolish action without proper investigation or consultation. Also demanded should be that steps be taken to prevent any further occurrences of totally unnecessary tree or plant removal.
Numerous studies have shown that each tree lost in this way has major repercussions on the ecology as a whole. Also, on combatting pollution, the serious effects of which are increasingly prevalent in suburbs to the south of Durban. Trees have an immense benefit with appearance, too.
In this instance a welcoming entrance to the area has been turned into something totally unattractive.
