Stainbank WI gears up for Christmas parties
Don’t forget the group meeting at Yellowwood Park on Monday, 26 November
STAINBANK Women’s Institute (SWI) president Arlene Greenfield opened the meeting with the Unity prayer and asked all members to think of those not with present, especially Phyllis Parsonage.
She also thanked those members wearing international dress for the occasion.
The secretary read out correspondence and the minutes were taken as read. Finance is also in order at the moment. SWI was sad to receive five resignations from longstanding members, some with 50 years membership.
Don’t forget the group meeting at Yellowwood Park on Monday, 26 November and the Woodlands Christmas Party on Friday, 7 December. SWI hopes to see lots of members present.
After tea the president introduced the speaker from a funeral services business, who gave a short talk about the provisions of their policies. Then it was time for the entertainment from Craig the music man, a quick three notes and guess the tune. Members were really on form and knew most of the answers.
Don’t forget SWI’s own Christmas party on Tuesday, 4 December. Take along a plate of snacks and friends for an enjoyable morning. There will be a representative from ‘Pathways’, a school for special children. They will be showing members the assortment of items they have made, which can be added to your Christmas list.
Birthday and anniversaries were read out and then the raffle, with Marsha Hart being a lucky member and the R40 club and swindle. A very big thank you to Hazel Demo for judging the competitions this month, her advice is valuable to members. The meeting closed with the WI prayer and the wish to see all members at the Christmas party. The WI is open to all women in the area. If you want a fulfilled morning, go along and join in.
