Bluff trips pipped on the line
There were no scores available from this past weekend at the time of going to print and those therefore will be published next week.
Bluff Bowling Club’s trips side of Spider Williams, Chad Wilson and Wayne Smith were narrowly beaten in the Port Natal trips competition final last weekend when they lost to Hillary.
They were sitting pretty as they were three shots up on the board and holding three on the green on the penultimate end when the opposition skip had a lucky bowl ricochet off a wide bowl, taking the jack into the ditch for five shots, which meant they went two shots down going into the last end in which they failed to score in.
The club’s open singles competition was completed last Saturday afternoon, 6 July, and in the semi finals, Gary Moffat accounted for Phil Hill, while Robert Mhlongo defeated Jorge Santos. Robert went on to beat Gary 21-14 in the final to become the club champion for 2019 and will now accompany Phyllis Maritz, the women’s champion to Stella Bowling Club to represent Bluff at the upcoming champion of champions tournament.
There were no scores available from this past weekend at the time of going to print and those therefore will be published next week. On Friday night, 5 July, the joker card was not located and the pool now stands at a healthy R9 185. Lilah Nel won the attendance draw and pocketed R60. On Saturday afternoon, 6 July, members enjoyed a complementary curry and fires were lit for braaing while watching the Durban July races from Greyville and a good time was had by all.
Next weekend the annual Dan Draper tournament is being played at Durban Wanderers and the club wishes all who are playing the best of luck. Members are asked to watch the notice board for upcoming events and postings. For hall hire, contact Gary Moffat on 076-680-4577.
