Brighton Beach police spread love to the girl child this Mandela month

Brighton Beach SAPS Women’s Network hosted “The Girl Child” initiative at the Isaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary and St. Monica’s Children Home on Friday, 16 July as part of Mandela month.

THROUGH the generosity of various donors, Brighton Beach SAPS Women’s Network hosted “The Girl Child” initiative at the Isaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary and St. Monica’s Children Home on Friday, 16 July as part of Mandela month.

Fifty-five girls, in the age group of 10 and 20 years old, received empowering bookmarks created by Project Manager, Captain Louise Le Roux. These were complemented with a mini cosmetic bag containing a roll-on, beautifying product and sanitary towels.

Both homes received disposable children’s masks, mini hand sanitisers and soap bars. The SAPS Colour Fun activity books and crayon packs were also included in the donation. Home-made emoji smiley-face teatime cookie treats were also distributed as part of the outreach initiative.

“Through this outreach initiative, the women’s network ensured that the strategic objectives of the SAPS were achieved during the initiative by showcasing the spirit of Ubuntu which is the concept of humanity towards less fortunate children within the Brighton Beach and Wentworth policing area,” said Le Roux.

She expressed her appreciation to all role players, including The Robin Hood Foundation, TEEZ Bakery, Grannies Vicky Cowan and Allen Erasmus, who contributed toward the campaign which afforded the child girl to be acknowledged within society.
