POLICE in Wentworth are appealing to the public for assistance in an investigation after a body of a man was found on the corner of Basil February Road and Himalaya Road in Merebank recently.

According to Wentworth police spokesperson Captain Mbuso Gumede the police, together with PT Alarms Security, responded to a call-out after receiving reports of a body lying near Basil February Road.

“The deceased had sustained bodily injuries and was unresponsive. He was wearing a green hooded jacket, an orange T-shirt, black jeans and black tekkies,” said Gumede.

According to the police, it is alleged that the deceased had been struck by an unidentified vehicle, which fled the scene.

“Paramedics were called to the scene, and upon their arrival declared the man deceased. The body was transported to Pinetown government mortuary, and the investigation will continue,” Gumede added.

Detective Sergeant Sibonelo Nzama is appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the incident to provide information to assist in this matter.
