Suspect caught selling dagga to children in Lamontville

The man was caught in the act of selling dagga to high school children and is facing a charge of dealing in dagga.

A MAN facing a charge of dealing in dagga appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (November 14). The suspect (29) was arrested after he allegedly tried to sell dagga to 10 high school children in Lamontville.

According to the police the suspect was caught in the act, selling dagga to the learners outside a high school in Lamontville on November 13.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the police received a tip-off about a man who was selling drugs to school children.

“The members of the Social Crime Prevention Unit planned an operation accordingly. During the execution of the operation the suspect was found inside a room next to the high school with 10 learners, eight of them girls. He was in possession of dagga which he was selling to these young school children.

“With police officers prioritising the future of children and the ongoing final examinations, learners were given a stern warning in the presence of their parents before they were released,” said Netshiunda.
