Ratepayers association donates food hampers to needy families
Partnering with Oxford Bluff, this heartfelt initiative brought joy and relief to 30 community members from The Bluff.
THE Peninsula Ratepayers Association (PRA) donated food hampers to 30 less fortunate families from The Bluff on Wednesday, December 18.
This festive season, the members of the PRA and its committee members dug deep into their hearts and pockets, collaborating with Oxford Bluff to make a tangible difference to the lives of the less fortunate.

According to a member of the committee, Celeste Thomson, funds were raised to create a few hampers for families who have little to nothing during this time of year.
“At the heart of this initiative is Richard Hawksworth, the convenor of the project and a familiar face to The Bluff community. Richard’s selfless dedication and tireless efforts to uplift others embodies the true spirit of giving. Whether it’s organising community projects or lending a helping hand, he continues to be a shining example of what it means to care for one’s community,” said Thomson.
Joining Hawksworth in making this project a success is Celeste Thomson, a devoted PRA member whose commitment has been equally invaluable.
The PRA thanked its dedicated committee members especially Ivor Aylward, Sharon Numan and Celeste Thomson, whose involvement have been invaluable to the success of this initiative.
“A special mention goes to the senior manager at Oxford Bluff, Hoosen Khan, whose commitment to this project went above and beyond expectations. Hoosen worked tirelessly to help the PRA put together these amazing hampers, ensuring every detail was handled with care. His efforts reflect the importance of local businesses stepping up to support the communities they serve and for this, the PRA and Bluff community are truly grateful,” said Thomson.
She said the initiative served as a reminder of the power of giving back, especially during the festive season when the need was felt more deeply.

The PRA extended its heartfelt thanks to every individual who contributed. The association has once again showcased the power of community spirit by giving back to those who need it most.
“Partnering with Oxford Bluff, this heartfelt initiative brought joy and relief to many who might have otherwise faced a bleak holiday,” she said.
The association said this initiative reflected what the festive season is truly about: sharing, caring and uplifting one another. It served as a powerful reminder that when individuals and organisations come together with purpose and compassion, real change can happen.
“The PRA extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed – be it through donations, time, or support. Your generosity has made a tangible difference, reminding us all of the importance of giving back and standing together as a community,” the PRA said in a statement.
“As we enter the New Year, let us carry forward this spirit of kindness and solidarity. Together we can continue to make The Bluff a place where hope, generosity and community thrive,” Thomson added.
