Nolwandle Gcaba, the community liaison officer for wards 64 and 65, said in light of the rainfall, the on-site engineers and contractor unanimously agreed that it was unsafe to pour the concrete and postponed it.

Afrisam, who had supplied the concrete for the initial pour, has again promised to supply the concrete, with the first trucks arriving on site on Friday morning and continuing throughout the day.

Gcaba said unfortunately, due to the rain delay, 15 to 16 truckloads of concrete had to be discarded due to standing time.

She also thanked the residents who continued working under difficult circumstances and thanked the member of the community who offered to donate drinking water.
