Weekend dates and opening times of driver’s licence testing centres

The public are advised that driver's licence testing centres provide a range of driver's licensing services.

PEOPLE from The Bluff, Montclair, Clairwood and surrounding areas are advised that driver’s licence testing centres offer licensing-related services such as:

  • Bookings for learner’s and driver’s tests as well as testing
  • Renewal of drivers licences
  • Applications for and renewals of PrDPs
  • Collection of driver’s licence cards.

At these centres they do not offer motor vehicle licensing services unless otherwise stated. Likewise motor licensing offices only offer vehicle licensing-related services such as:

  • Renewal of vehicle licence discs
  • Change of vehicle ownership and more. They do not offer driver’s licensing-related transactions.

Documents required for the processing of driver’s licence renewal applications in terms of the National Road Traffic Act, Act 93 of 1996 are:

  •  Identity Document or Smart Card and a copy thereof
  • Cost of R250 for issue of driver’s licence (Please note that provincially run offices only accept card payments)
  • Cost of R90 for temporary driver’s licence (Please note that provincial offices only accept card payments) and one ID-sized black and white or colour photograph.

The following should be noted regarding proof of residence:

  • Must not be older than three months;
  • Must clearly state the physical address, e.g. a bank statement, store account, etc.
  • If the applicant is residing with parents, a letter by the parent accompanied with the proof of residence is required;

An eye test certificate from an optometrist is preferred and must not be older than three months.

Rossburgh DLTC will be open on the weekend of December 20 to 21 from 07:00 to 13:30 offering the following services:

  • Collection of driver’s licences
  • Renewals of driver’s licences
  • PrDP Applications (new applications and renewals) and issues (R250).

There will be no bookings of learner’s or driver’s licence tests on weekends. The public are reminded to bring an eye test from an optometrist for the eye test. Payments are by cards only (Master or Visa cards only) at the DLTC.
