A member of the public immediately approached the response officer and reported that the suspect had allegedly fired shots.
A MAN was arrested following an alleged shooting incident and dramatic high-speed chase on The Bluff recently.
According to ET Rapid Response spokesperson Tony Lokker, one of their company’s response officers was travelling along Tara Road when multiple gunshots were heard near the intersection of Beach Road and Tara Road.

“Concerned by the sounds of gunfire, the officer stopped at the corner of Cluver Crescent and Tara Road to assess the situation. Moments later, a blue Toyota Hilux was seen speeding south along Tara Road,” he said.
Lokker said a member of the public immediately approached the response officer and reported that the driver of the Toyota Hilux had allegedly fired shots at another vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Land Cruiser, before fleeing the scene.
“Acting on the information received, the ET Rapid Response officer initiated a pursuit of the suspect vehicle. During the chase, the driver of the Hilux allegedly drove recklessly, travelling at excessive speeds, overtaking other motorists dangerously and ignoring several red traffic signals,” said Lokker.
The pursuit continued through the area as the response officer worked to bring the situation under control while ensuring the safety of other road users.

The response officer eventually managed to catch up with and intercept the suspect vehicle. The driver was successfully detained, handcuffed and disarmed without further incident.
He said the firearm allegedly found in the suspect’s possession was secured to ensure the safety of both responding officers and members of the public.
“Members of the Brighton Beach police station arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and took over the investigation. Additional police units and private security personnel also responded to assist. The driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser, who was allegedly targeted during the shooting, sustained injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital for further medical care. The extent of the victim’s injuries has not yet been disclosed,” he said.
Lokker commended the actions of all responding personnel, saying their swift intervention helped prevent what could have been a far more serious outcome.
