FOUR men charged with the possession of drugs appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on July 20.

The first accused, Brandon Hutchinson (34), was arrested in Basil February Road on July 18 in possession of 44 bottles of cough syrup.

Acording to a police report, he was charged under the Medicine Control Act.

The four accused, Hutchinson, Deondre Jonathan (24), Chad Fynn (20) and Jerome Wati (27) were all arrested during a recent joint operation between Metro Police Street Crime Unit and Wentworth Crime Prevention unit members.

A special concoction

A source told the SUN that the cough syrup is mixed with cool drink.

“This concoction is known as Lean. It is used by young adults to get high. The street value of the recovered medicine is approximately R3000,” said the source.

On July 19, the police arrested Jonathan in the Croton Road flat complex after allegedly being found in possession of 400 suspected heroin capsules.

“He faces charges for drug trafficking. The value of the recovery is R8000. During the same operation Fynn was arrested in possession of suspected heroin capsules, rock cocaine, mandrax, cat and cocaine powder. The value of these drugs are R12 900,” the source said.

Meth bust

In Woodville Road another accused, Wati was arrested with eight parcels of crystal meth.

Wati was released on bail while the other three men were remanded in custody for bail investigations.
