Three-year jail term for convicted house robber
His accomplice, who was never arrested, ransacked the house while Chris held the victim hostage in the bathroom.
A CONVICTED house robber who stood trial for house robbery was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment at the Durban Magistrate’s Court recently.
According to the investigating officer, Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini, Chris Blom (36) unlawfully entered a home in Yellowwood Park on April 18 while a domestic worker was inside.

“The victim said that she heard footsteps approaching the house and went out to investigate. As she made her way out, she encountered the accused in the passage, who ordered her to keep quiet before shoving her into the bathroom,” said Dlamini.
His accomplice, who was never arrested, ransacked the house while Blom held the victim hostage in the bathroom.
In court he was found guilty for house robbery. Blom pleaded guilty on the charges.
“Our investigation revealed that on the day of the robbery, Blom kept an eye on the victim at the bathroom while his accomplice removed the valuables from the house,” said Dlamini.

The accomplice stole three laptops, a phone and a bag containing clothing that had recently been returned from the laundry.
“The suspects then left the scene. Police were alerted to the incident and acted swiftly to follow on leads. Information received from our sources led us to Yellowwood Park where the accused was found in possession of stolen goods. The accused was arrested on April 18, just three hours after the robbery,” said Dlamini.
The arresting officers were Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini and Sergeant Nombuso Mdlalose.
Blom was then arrested and taken to Montclair police station.
“All the stolen good were recovered and the accused charged with house robbery,” Dlamini added.
