SDB ABM representative and co-ordinator of the workshop, Irene Chetty, highlighted the superb turnout, as over 30 enthusiastic young attendants looked to learn about business development and career opportunities.

“We had more than 10 stakeholders who attended to educate, mentor, and empower young people to become entrepreneurs or get jobs,” she said.
Some of the stakeholders at the event included:
- The Department of Labour
- eThekwini Municipal Academy
- National Youth Development Agency
- First National Bank
- Ikhokha
- Urban Hair Care
- Old Mutual
- Small Enterprise Development Agency
- Municipal Labour Wing
These stakeholders provided much-needed information about job opportunities, career advancement, as well as available scholarships.

“It was an absolute success. I was happy with the turnout and level of participation. The question-and-answer session was insightful, as the youth were interested in the discourses. The stakeholders too were impressed with exposing the young people to other business possibilities,” she said.
She emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering growth and self-improvement among young people.
“I definitely want to have more programmes of this nature. As the co-ordinator for this area, my drive is to encourage young people to seize every opportunity, better themselves, and make a difference daily,” said Chetty.
The workshop was a crucial platform for bridging the gap between the available career opportunities and the unemployed youth, equipping them with skills and tools to compete in the market.
