Danese le Roux, the former fiancée of Gerard Igesund, a hardware owner on The Bluff, is accused of allegedly defrauding Igesund of millions. The final amount will be disclosed in court. She appeared in court on March 28, facing fraud and theft charges.
The suspect is alleged to have stolen money from the business while she was the manager from June 2015 to December 2021.
The State is yet to prove whether she can be implicated in other charges that may be added to the charge sheet.
While still in a relationship, the couple lived together in Igesund’s residence in Amanzimtoti. Although Le Roux has not been arrested, she was served with a summons to appear in court.
Le Roux became the manager of the business after Igesund was involved in a motorbike accident which left him with serious head injuries on June 19, 2014.
Igesund was in a coma for nine days and in hospital for a month. As a result of the injuries, he took no active part in the business until his condition improved gradually.
After Le Roux left him, Igesund instituted an internal audit into the financial affairs of the business and realised that large amounts of money had allegedly been stolen.

In court, Le Roux said that she would be represented by her own lawyer who failed to arrive.
Igesund told the SUN that he was relieved that after four years of battling and searching for answers, the investigation was completed.
In February 2022, Igesund and his son, Taiga, trended on social media after they were attacked by unknown men at his business on The Bluff.
In CCTV footage, Igesund and his son could be seen exiting from their vehicle, when a white car reversed and four armed men jumped out.
The suspects are seen trying to grab a hold of Igesund, and his son grabbing one of the armed men in an attempt to get the man away from his father.
Igesund ran towards the back of his vehicle before drawing his firearm and firing at the assailants who then fled.
The suspects are still at large.
