Thirty-minute power outages planned for the weekend

The power supply interruption is required to allow eThekwini Electricity to facilitate a high voltage bus bar repair at the Woodlands substation.

THE public is advised of a planned outage which will interrupt electricity supply tomorrow, May 10 for 30 minutes from 08:30 to 09:00 and again on Sunday, May 11 from 16:00 to 16:30.
eThekwini Municipality said the supply interruption is required to allow eThekwini Electricity to facilitate a high voltage bus bar repair at the Woodlands substation.
“To execute this work safely, it is necessary to interrupt electricity supply at the Woodlands substation,” said eThekwini in a statement.

Parts of the following areas will be affected:

  • Mobeni South,
  • Montclair,
  • Woodlands Industrial,
  • Yellowwood Park,
  • Merewent,
  • Jacobs, and Austerville.
eThekwini Municipality urged the public in these areas to plan for the outage. During the outage, the public is advised to treat all electrical installations as live.
