Driver’s licence centres: July weekend operating hours

The public are reminded about the operating dates and hours of the drivers licensing centres and motor licensing offices.

THE public are advised to take note of the operating times and services offered by driver’s licensing testing centres.

Services offered include:

  • Bookings for learners and drivers tests as well as testing,
  • Renewal of drivers licences,
  • Applications for and renewals of PrDPs
  • Collection of drivers licence cards.

The centres do not offer motor vehicle licensing services unless otherwise stated.

Likewise, motor licensing offices only offer vehicle licensing-related services such as:

  • The renewal of vehicle licence discs,
  • Change of vehicle ownership, etc.,
  • They do not offer drivers licensing-related transactions.

Documents that are required for the processing of driver’s licence renewal applications in terms of the National Road Traffic Act, Act 93 of 1996 are:

  • Identity Document/Smart Card and a copy thereof;
  • Cost of R250 for issue of drivers licence (please note that provincial offices only accept card payments);
  • Cost of R90 for temporary drivers licence (please note that provincial offices only accept card payments) and  ID-sized black and white or colour photograph.

The following should be noted regarding proof of residence:

  • Must not be older than three months;
  • Must clearly state the physical address, such as a bank statement, store account,
  • If the applicant is residing with parents, a letter by the parent accompanied with the proof of residence is required

An eye test certificate from an optometrist is preferred and must not be older than three months.

Rossburgh driving licence testing centre

It will be open on weekends, July 12 and 13, and 26 to 27 from 07:30 to 13:30 offering the following services:

  • Collection of Driving Licence Cards
  • Renewals of Driving Licences
  • PrDP application (new applications and renewals) and issue (R250)

There will be no bookings of learners and driving licences on the weekends.

Payments are made by cards only (Master and Visa cards) and applicants must bring optometrist reports for the eye test.

Umbilo licensing office

The office will be open on weekends, July 19 and 20 from 08:00 to 13:00. They will be offering all motor vehicle licensing-related transactions.
