Update: Four suspects arrested, injured after shootout with police
The driver abandoned the vehicle at the corner of Quality Street and Barrier Lane, before fleeing towards Montclair.
THE four suspects involved in a shootout with the police this morning (July 31) have been arrested and charged with possession of prohibited firearms.
The suspects were arrested following a high-speed chase involving private security companies.

According to sources, a member of the public became suspicious upon noticing a car with four occupants driving in the Jacobs industrial area.
“A community member sent a message to a community chat group alerting the police about a car ‘patrolling’ in the Jacobs industrial area. A description was given and the police gave chase. Upon arrival the police tried to stop the car. There was a high speed chase involving the police and the suspects. The suspects’ car crashed into a private car. Three suspects jumped out of the vehicle while the driver fled the scene. The police initially arrested three suspects,” said the source.
The driver, who was already injured during the shooting, abandoned the vehicle on the corner of Quality Street and Barrier Lane, and fled on foot towards Montclair.
“The police received reports from the members of the public about an individual wearing blood-stained clothes at a garage in Montclair.

“Officers responded to the scene and located the suspect, who was transported to hospital by ambulance where he remains under police guard,” a source said.
Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson said, “Paramedics were shown to a man believed to be in his fifties who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was in a serious condition and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics.”
