Spring events are a beautiful time to go out and meet new people, enjoy the sun and have some community fun.

SPRING is around the corner and there are events you don’t want to miss out on.

Here’s a compilation of upcoming events, from markets and picnics to festivals and nature walks, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Yellowwood Park Saturday Night Market – August 30

Brought to you by Curious Crafts at the Yellowwood Park Sports Ground, the night market offers a range of foods and entertainment, from bakery and dessert goods, jewellery and clothes shopping to paintball target shooting. It’s a fun time for family and friends to enjoy.

Dutch Reformed Church fete – August 30

The Dutch Reformed Church Durban-East will hold a fete at their hall, 49 Old Mission Road, The Bluff from 09:00 to 14:00. There will be lots to eat. For further information, contact the church office on 083 387 2553.

St. Louis Catholic Parish fete – August 31

The St. Louis Catholic Parish, Clairwood annual fete will take place at 22 Jacobs Road, Clairwood. Mass at 09:00 and fete thereafter. Parking is available at Durban South Primary School, next to the church. There will be live music featuring Ashleigh J, DJ Leroy and Lenny Bowes.

St Monica’s AGM – September 10

Alipore Primary 60th anniversary celebration – September 12

Alipore Primary School will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a dinner and dance at the Amanzimtoti Civic Hall. The event encourages those who have shared in the school’s history, whether as a teacher or learner, to come and celebrate the school’s milestone. There will be food and entertainment. The event will begin at 18:30 and the cost is R200.

Woodlands family picnic – September 13

For just R200 for a family of four, you get to experience live music, family games, face painting and a kids zone for children to run free. Spend your free time bonding and relaxing with family and friends.

Walk in the wild – September 21

The Centre for rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) encourages you to join them for a scenic 5km walk into nature at the Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve. Buying a ticket, ranging from R75 to R150, supports CROW’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate and release indigenous animals. A ticket also gets you breakfast in nature as a start; zebra and antelope spottings on the walk; and different challenges for a chance to win awards and prizes at the end of the finish line.
