Cable theft suspects caught after high-speed chase on The Bluff

Two suspects were arrested following a high-speed chase on The Bluff after ET Rapid Response received a tip-off from the Bluff CPF.

TWO men suspected to be responsible for the theft of cables from The Bluff were apprehended and charged recently.

The pair was arrested during a high-speed chase on The Bluff after ET Rapid Response received information from The Bluff Community Policing Forum (CPF) regarding theft of cable that occurred in Serowe Road.

According to a statement from ET Rapid Response, a vehicle suspected to be used in the crime was identified travelling on The Bluff.

“One of our vigilant ET Rapid Response officers, working closely with a member of The Bluff CPF, noticed a vehicle travelling on The Bluff matching the description of the one used last week on Friday morning.

“As our reaction officer got behind the vehicle, he noticed cable in the vehicle and continued following while calling for back-up. The suspects noticed our presence and started speeding excessively in an attempt to evade arrest, resulting in a high-speed pursuit,” ET Rapid Response said in a statement.

The suspects eventually lost control of their vehicle, and the pursuit came to an end in the Malvern area.

“The suspects were subsequently apprehended, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime seized, together with implements and cable suspected to be stolen from The Bluff.

The suspects were taken by the police for further processing.

The high speed chase involved the following police and security officers:
  • Malvern police,
  • Brighton Beach police officers,
  • Hendrik’s towing and,
  • Other private security partners
